Method & Teaching
CISM teaching methods bring a new world of education alive in the classroom and around campus on a daily basis.
Creativity is encouraged and much appreciated where Collaboration and Communications are integral to CISM teaching methods, including:
- Real-life simulations
- Project-based learning
- Experiential learning techniques
- Field studies
- Hands-on -activities
Learning takes place independently and in a group, in the classroom and outside of class time and students learn in many different ways. Classroom teaching is interactive and exciting as students take part in discussions and ask questions. The learning atmosphere is positive and supportive. The relationship between students and teachers are friendly and warm and based on mutual respect.
Our teachers use the 5 E Instructional Model - Engage, Explore, Explain, Elaborate, Evaluate - to help our students learn:
- Engage: Teachers help students engage with others, their learning goals and the real world.
- Explore: Teachers challenge students to ask and investigate questions, gather information and develop ideas.
- Explain: Teachers provide opportunities for students to show how much they have learnt, and help them to increase their knowledge through reading, writing, speaking, listening and speaking.
- Elaborate: Teachers help students improve their understanding by testing their knowledge in various activities and providing feedback on their progress.
- Evaluate: Teachers check the students' progress against their learning goals and give them feedback to help them with their achievements and set new learning goals.
